Questions on FDNY Service Cuts and Pension Woes
Mr Halloran,
What are your thoughts as a candidate on matters involving the FDNY, particularly the closing of fire companies and the recent debate over the FDNY pension system?

The FDNY has been underfunded for years. The safety of our firefighters and our communities depend on properly resourced firefighters, support staff, and training. Pressure has not been brought to bear on the federal and state agencies to secure supplemental funds, nor have the city bureaucrats done the right thing to ensure our bravest are able to do what they need to. The pension system has been squandered and like all civil service pension plans, mismanaged. Without retirement security we will continue to see dedicated firemen depart to other job opportunities, and we will risk the security for the future of those already serving us and paying into the system.
