Conservative Party Endorses Halloran for City Council

Queens County’s Conservative Party has unanimously endorsed Auburndale attorney and lifelong Northeast-Queens resident Dan Halloran for City Council in the 19th Council District. The district was previously represented by popular Conservative-Republican Mike Abel until he was term limited out of office and encompasses the neighborhoods of College Point, Whitestone, Auburndale, Bayside, Bay Terrace, Douglaston, and Little Neck. Halloran, an Eagle Scout, has a strong record of public service as a former member of the police department, and Special Assistant District Attorney, who continues to serve the community as a trial attorney in the Assigned Counsel program.

Halloran’s advocacy of common sense-smaller government, lower taxes, accountability in public spending, and support for law-enforcement and the uniformed services were at the heart of the decision to support his candidacy. In accepting the endorsement, Halloran said, “I am honored to have the support of the Conservative Party because they have consistently stood up for the middle class voters and taxpayers, and I will work with them to spread our message of restoring responsibility, ethics, and accountability to our government. I will continue to honor the values of the Conservative Party and our local community.”

Chairman Long stated, “Dan is the right choice for the members of this community and for the City as a whole. He will be a voice for fiscal responsibility and represent the core-values of our neighborhoods. We are happy that he is our nominee and we will give him our full support.”

Halloran was formally endorsed by the Republican Party in March and will be able to run with the Conservative Party’s cross-endorsement in the November 2009 election. More information on the campaign and Committee to Elect Dan Halloran is available at www.danhalloran.org.
